POLICY ON PROVIDING TRAVEL ADVICE

It is important that you discuss your travel plans with us as soon as possible. Some vaccinations require a course of more than one vaccine with a recommended gap in-between so the sooner we start your vaccination programme the more likely it is we can give you full protection for your holiday. Ideally you should contact us at least 8 weeks before you travel.

So that we can give you the right advice and let you know which vaccinations you need we do ask you to complete a travel form. Our travel form is available from reception or by clicking on the link above. We ask for details of your travel plans and some personal details that might affect whether we can give you certain vaccinations.

Please note if you are travelling in less than 6 weeks time or you have a child travelling with you who is under 1 years old we will not be able to offer this service and will direct you to a specialist clinic.

Once you have completed the travel form please return this to reception. The practice nurse will review your travel plans and make recommendations based on current guidelines.

The form will then be made available for you to collect from reception in 2 weeks time. (Please note: Due to the number of forms we deal with it will not be possible for us to inform you that it is ready to collect.)

The form will give full details of our recommendations, will outline any charges that may be payable (for non NHS vaccinations) and will tell you what appointments you need to book with the nurse, if any. The receptionist will be able to book these for you when you collect the form. Details of our charges are listed on the link above.

Please note, for your personal safety, in certain circumstances you may be advised to attend a specialist clinic. This is most likely if your travel plans are complicated e.g. moving through lots of different countries or when you are travelling for an extended period of time.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of this policy before you complete your form please ask for a telephone consultation with the practice nurse or ask to speak to the practice manager.
